Climb the 78 stairs to the deck of the 68-foot-high Presque Isle Lighthouse, and you’re guaranteed tremendous views of the peninsula, Lake Erie and all of the park’s wonderful environs.

If you’ve driven past the Presque Isle State Park landmark this fall, you’ve probably noticed work crews and scaffolding outside.

A two-bay garage built in the 1970s on the grounds near the lighthouse is undergoing a $300,000 facelift and transformation into an operations center that will open to the public in 2018.
