Fish are turning up dead in Lake St. Clair and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is investigating the cause.

After residents reported seeing dead gizzard shad fish around the lake, the DNR collected samples and suspect the fish could have been affected by viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSv), a contagious pathogen that causes the blood vessels of fish to leak.
