CLEVELAND, Ohio – Thousands of shipwrecks are hidden in the Great Lakes, the grave site of thousands of sailors. Hundreds of lighthouses line the shores, a testament to the life’s work of hundreds of keepers and their families.

Which is why the Great Lakes are full of ghost stories.

“Spirits, apparitions, those don’t really haunt graveyards,” said author Wes Oleszewski, who has written 18 book about the Great Lakes. “What they haunt is the places they loved.”

Olesewski collected unprovable, creepy experiences for two books: “Great Lakes Ghost Stories: Haunted Tales Past & Present” and “Ghost Ships, Gales, and Forgotten Tales.”
