BRIGHTON – The Presqu’ile Point Lighthouse Preservation Society may have lost thousands of dollars, but its board of directors refuses to be defeated by that loss.

On Friday afternoon, chairman Dave Sharp, announced the charitable organization, which aims to restore the lighthouse on Lake Ontario 90 kilometres southeast of Peterborough, had been defrauded of $60,000 to $70,000.

“This is a huge step backwards,” Sharp said Friday. “This has been a very emotional 30 hours.”
